Background
We are supporting a well-established IT company with operations in Hong Kong and Macau in expanding their recruitment efforts to Malaysia. The company specializes in software implementation and smart city initiatives, partnering with major utility and transportation infrastructure organizations, as well as various government departments in Hong Kong and Macau.
We are seeking a passionate GIS Developer with creativity, technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a user-focused approach to work remotely with our team in Hong Kong and Macau. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in GIS, utility networking, and insights into the utility sector.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in troubleshooting GIS-related issues and providing user support.
• Participate in GIS data processing tasks to ensure data accuracy and quality.
• Contribute to basic application and script development to automate tasks and improve workflows.
• Help maintain system and task documentation for ongoing and new projects.
• Support the full lifecycle management of customer requests, including requirements gathering, development, and testing under supervision.
• Collaborate with the team to maintain and update GIS systems and tools.
• Provide input for system upgrades and enhancements to improve functionality.
• Assist in reviewing and modifying web applications and web pages with guidance from senior team members.
• Work with other team members on GIS data integration projects and web interface design.
Key Requirements:
• 1-2 years of experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
• Basic knowledge of GIS programming languages like Python or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with spatial databases like PostGIS or Oracle.
• Experience using source control tools like Git.
• Understanding of web application basics and familiarity with HTML/CSS is a plus.
• Familiarity with server environments (e.g., Windows Server) is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong desire to learn.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor or master’s degree in Geographic Information System, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or IT related disciplines
Candidates possessing greater experience and superior qualifications will be designated as GIS Analyst or Senior GIS Developer.
