Background
We are supporting a well-established IT company in Hong Kong specializing in geospatial solutions, software implementation, and infrastructure support. For this project, we are seeking an Assistant GIS Engineer to be outsourced to a major utility company for their ESRI ArcGIS implementation project.
This is a position offering a valuable opportunity to work directly on GIS systems used in the utility sector.
Responsibilities
• Perform GIS data editing tasks using Esri ArcGIS Pro (or ArcMap).
• Assist in updating and maintaining utility maps with precision and consistency.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy of spatial and attribute data.
• Collaborate with the project team to carry out GIS-related operational tasks.
• Follow established workflows and contribute to process improvement where appropriate.
• Support the integration and maintenance of GIS data in utility network models.
• Document work progress and maintain records as per project requirements.
Key Requirements
• Hands-on experience in Esri ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap (ArcMap users must be willing to transition to ArcGIS Pro).
• Experience with editing utility maps is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of Intergraph/G-Tech systems is a great advantage.
• Basic understanding of spatial data concepts, projections, and geodatabases.
• Able to follow instructions accurately and work independently under supervision.
• Good communication and documentation skills
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information System, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Fresh graduates with relevant training or internship experience may also be considered.
Candidates with greater experience and stronger qualifications may be considered for the position of GIS Engineer.
